INDIALANTIC -- A new athletic event of epic proportions will make its debut this weekend.
The inaugural Beachside Boardwalk Triathlon will take place on Sunday, June 23 at Nance Park in Indialantic.
The triathlon, which is sanctioned by the USA Triathlon, will take place throughout the gorgeous beachside town of Indialantic, with an ocean swim, a bike ride along the Indian River Lagoon and a run through a friendly neighborhood.
According to a press release for the event, "The race director and crew are also keeping a local feel and theme for the event."
A piece by local artist Damien Share is the focal point for the event, which showcases the Indialantic boardwalk and Melbourne Causeway.
Sponsors for this inaugural event include Beachside Physical Therapy and Health Studio, Don Facciobene, Inc., Carter's Garage, Smith Surveying, iNi Productions and The Jungle Organic Restaurant and Market.
All of those who register for the Beachside Boardwalk Triathlon will be entered into a raffle, and one lucky winner will take home a full-sized stand-up paddleboard.
Those who complete the triathlon will receive a finisher's medal, with awards given to the top three finishers in each division.
Divisions include overall male, overall female, age groups, Clydesdale, Athena, first-timers and Fat Tires.
The inaugural Beachside Boardwalk Triathlon is Sunday, June 23 at Nance Park in Indialantic.
