Blood drive on June 15

For the second year, Crary Buchanan is holding its Father's Day blood drive at the law firm's Port St. Lucie office from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 15. Fathers and father figures in St. Lucie County will be teaching their children about giving and caring by donating blood in honor of the holiday.

The office is located at 1935 S.E. Port St Lucie Blvd., just west of U.S. 1. For more information, call (772) 335-2600.

Passport applications rise

Applications for new passports filed at the St. Lucie Clerk's office have increased 42.6 percent in 2013. More than 1,670 passports have been issued to residents of St. Lucie County from January to May 2013, compared to 1,171 issued the same time last year.

It's not too late to get passports for summer trips. The average turnaround time is four to six weeks, but vacationers can also expedite the processing and get passports within two to three weeks.

Adult passport books are $110 and passport cards are $30. Minor passport books are $80 and minor passport cards are $15. Payments must be made by check or money order. A separate $25 processing fee for each application may be paid by cash or debit card to the Clerk's office. The passport cards cannot be used for air travel.

The Clerk's office accepts passport applications on behalf of the U.S. Department of State at its downtown Fort Pierce office, located at 201 S. Indian River Drive for Fort Pierce.
