Summer writing contest for teens underway

JENSEN BEACH -- The Hoke Library in Jensen Beach is holding a teen writing contest in two divisions: poetry and fiction.

Rules of the contest are:

Open to contestants ages 13-19 from Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.

Include your name, age and email address on your manuscript.

All pieces must be under 5,000 words (name, age, email address and title are not tallied in the word count).

No fan-fictions. Work must be original and not contain copyrighted characters. Manuscripts must be typed, in readable 11 or 12 point font.

Teens can submit their best work to ecastle@martin.fl.us by 11:59 p.m. on June 30. Prizes include gift cards to Barnes & Noble.
