Participating in the Accelerated Reader program, the students from Mrs. Patrick's second-grade class at St. Lucie Elementary in Fort Pierce have read 1,332 books since Jan. 8. The challenge was for each student to read at least 100 books. Having exceeded the challenge, Mrs. Patrick surprised her students on Tuesday, May 21, with gifts and lunch from Applebee's restaurant.
