Seven-year-old Christopher Clanton, of Vero Beach, quickly scoops up his catch so he can get it measured. Nearly 250 children ages 5-12 gathered under the Merrill P. Barber Bridge Saturday morning for the annual 'Take a Kid Fishing' sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Vero -Treasure Coast. For more than a decade, the Kiwanis Club has held the annual event. Everything is provided including fishing poles, bait and a lunch of hamburgers and hotdogs. Winners receive trophies for most caught, biggest, smallest and of course, ugliest fish.
