BREVARD -- Three Central Florida jazz organizations will come together this weekend for a concert of epic proportions.

On Saturday, June 8, members of the Glenn Miller Orchestra from Lake Mary, Orlando Jazz Orchestra and the Space Coast Jazz Orchestra will host the "Big Band Blues Buffet" at Riverside Presbyterian Church in Cocoa Beach. The concert begins at 7 p.m.

"With the success of our Jazz Series, I thought it would be a great opportunity to do something a little different for this special concert," said Aaron T. Collins, artistic director for the Space Coast Jazz Orchestra. "We will be bringing in 14 of the finest jazz musicians in the Southeast to perform an accessible and thrilling program of Big Band favorites."

Concert attendees will enjoy the classic sounds of Basie, Dorsey, Ellington, Miller and more.

Joining the blend of musicians is Central Florida jazz vocalist Amy Parnell, whose soulful voice promises to keep audiences in the groove.

"The jazz musician community is very tight and many [musicians] perform together on various gigs," Mr. Collins said. "[Being a part of this event] was a no-brainer, and I asked my friend, Greg Parnell, former drummer and manager of the Glenn Miller Orchestra, to put together a stellar cast."

Mr. Parnell certainly held up on his end of the bargain, and Mr. Collins is excited to bring such an amazing collaboration to the Space Coast.

"[The concert will be] a lot of fun. The music will mostly be familiar staples in the jazz repertoire, with some exciting odd balls thrown in," Mr. Collins added.

"We have some wonderful jazz ensembles in our area, but none of this caliber," Mr. Collins said of the all-star line-up. "All of these musicians have performed with the great Big Bands of the 20th Century, and their musicianship is unmatched. It will make for a very thrilling evening."

Advanced tickets are available for $20, and can be purchased at Ace Hardware stores in Indialantic, Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach, Blue Sky Insurance in Cocoa Village, Tropical Realty of Suntree, Art Expressions in downtown Eau Gallie, A Floral Affair on Merritt Island and Palm Bay Hearing Aid Center.

Tickets may also be purchased at the door for $25. The concert is free for those 18 and younger.
