BREVARD -- Baseball is a sport of honor and tradition.

On Monday, June 10, through Wednesday, June 12, the Brevard County Manatees will continue with its 20-year tradition of hosting a youth baseball camp at Space Coast Stadium in Viera.

The camp is for girls and boys, ages 6-13, and runs from 9 a.m. until noon. Cost is $100 or $90 for Mini-Tee members. The fee includes one camp T-shirt, one ticket for all remaining 2013 Manatees home games, an official Manatee's Baseball Camp graduation certificate and professional instruction from the Brevard County Manatees players and coaches.

"Since the existence of the Brevard County Manatees, 20 seasons ago, we have hosted this baseball camp, and the plan is to continue doing so for years to come," said Kevin Soto, director of promotions and community relations for the Brevard County Manatees.

Children, who participate in the three-day camp, will be immersed in the baseball culture.

"The activities kids will participate in include hitting baseballs in the batting cages, learning different pitching techniques, outfield and infield drills and an opportunity to actually play a real baseball game on our field," Mr. Soto said.

On the final day of camp, all campers will be announced on the wireless microphone, and will receive their official Manatees' Baseball Camp graduation certificate.

"The kids will be able to receive autographs from our players and coaches, following graduation," Mr. Soto added.

The opportunity to attend the Brevard County Manatees baseball camp is one loaded with benefits.

"Campers receive professional instruction from Manatees players and coaches," Mr. Soto said. "Since some of our coaches have spent time in the Major League, kids will be able to gain a tremendous amount of knowledge about the game of baseball and sportsmanship."

Space for the Brevard County Manatees Baseball Camp is limited to 150 participants, and the camp is expected to sell out fast.

"If parents are interested, I urge them to contact me," Mr. Soto said. "I hope to see many happy faces there, and remember -- fear the sea cow!"

The Brevard County Manatees Youth Baseball Camp is Monday, June 10 through Wednesday, June 12, from 9 a.m. to noon at Space Coast Stadium.

Cost is $100 and $90 for Mini-Tee members.
