TITUSVILLE -- The great Sammy Davis Jr. once said, "There's nothing that can match Broadway for stature and dignity."
On Saturday, June 8 at 7:30 p.m., Mary Purdy and L.G. Donovan will host "All Dogs Go to Broadway," a musical revue, at the Titusville Playhouse. Cost is $40 for dinner and a show, $25 to view the show at main level and $15 to view the show at balcony level.
Proceeds will benefit the SPCA of Brevard. Catering is provided by Irish Pub and Crackerjack's Island Tiki, with gourmet desserts provided by the Brindle Kitchen Bakery.
Co-writers, Mrs. Purdy and Mr. Donovan came up with "All Dogs Go to Broadway" after many SPCA volunteers wanted to host a fun, Broadway-theme fundraiser.
"'All Dogs Go to Broadway' features selections from popular musicals throughout the ages," said Susan Naylor, media specialist for the SPCA of North Brevard.
Attendees will enjoy show tunes from Broadway classics, like Annie, Les Miserables, Cats and The Lion King.
The SPCA of North Brevard's very own public relations director, Teri Scott, will co-host the event, alongside Mrs. Purdy. Mrs. Scott will also perform in "What a Feeling" from the iconic Flash Dance.
"There will be live animals in our show, as well as actors in costume," Mrs. Naylor added.
Along with a bevy of musical delights, guests can participate in a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.
"There will be a three-month Venice Nutrition Consulting package from Melbourne Fitness and Nutrition, a package from Cocoa Beach Spa and 18 holes of golf for four at LaCita Country Club," Mrs. Naylor said. "A mega restaurant gift certificate auction from several different restaurants, Origami Owl and Lia Sophia jewelry and Stephens Jewelers, along with full-size servings of the trio of mini desserts being served with dinner will also be available for auction."
"All Dogs Go to Broadway" is sure to be a night to remember.
"It's a night full of great entertainment, great food -- for those who buy the dinner-and-a-show option -- and the privilege of helping to save homeless pets in Brevard, who are completely dependent on humans," Mrs. Naylor said.
