Junior tennis championships start this weekend

The most competitive US Tennis Association Section junior championships in the nation, producing the most players to go on and achieve the world No. 1 ranking, the 65th edition of the USTA Florida Bobby Curtis Junior State Championships will be June 8-13.

Play will be at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach, Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs and the Ormond Beach Tennis Center.

Formerly known as the USTA Florida Jr. State Closed, in 2012 the tournament was renamed for Bobby Curtis, the legendary organizer of Florida junior tournaments.

Four juniors who have raised trophies at the event and gone on to rank No. 1 in the world on the ATP or WTA rankings are Chris Evert, Jennifer Capriati, Jim Courier and Andy Roddick.
