In May, Port St. Lucie Animal control was contacted by a concerned citizen regarding a raccoon that had an unsafe illegal trap around its left front paw. Animal control officers set a humane capture trap, and within one day had captured the raccoon.
The raccoon still had the unsafe trap on its paw and was in severe pain. Animal control brought the raccoon to Animal Kindness Hospital, where its injuries will be treated.
Near drowning in pool
On May 25, Port St. Lucie Police, along with St. Lucie County fire Rescue went to home in the 1600 block of Taurus Lane for a report of a near drowning of a three-year-old boy.
The child was found floating in the family pool. Port St. Lucie Police Officer Trevor Horten arrived and performed CPR on the child. He was taken to St. Lucie Medical Center, and then later airlifted to Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in critical condition.
Teen crime spree ends
On May 23, Port St. Lucie police arrested Gabino Gonzalez, 17, of Hialeah for grand theft, three counts of burglary to a conveyance, three counts of petty theft, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and loitering and prowling.
Police also arrested Manuel Enriquez, 18, of Hialeah for grand theft auto, three counts of armed burglary to a conveyance, possession of burglary tools, petty theft, possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana, possession of a concealed weapon and loitering and prowling.
An officer noticed the teens walking in a residential area at 3 a.m. After contact, police discovered the stolen vehicle and other stolen items.
Police are working with other agencies to determine if the teens are linked to other crimes.
Car wash burglary suspect sought
Port St. Lucie police are asking the public's help in identifying a suspect who burglarized the St. Lucie Car Wash on Huffman Road in Port St. Lucie in the early morning hours of May 22.
The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5'10" to 6 feet tall, 180 pounds in his 20s.

Man arrested on multiple burglaries
Port St. Lucie police arrested Mauricia Huerta on May 20 for four burglaries, three counts of grand theft, dealing in stolen property and giving false information to a pawn broker.
Police are still working on this case to identify additional suspects.
