MELBOURNE -- Crossing the railroad tracks into a back neighborhood, nestled neatly on the side of the industrialized area of Eau Gallie Boulevard, a small sign with a an arrow pointing to the north reads, "Hog Wild Bar B-Q & Grill."

"It's about the only advertising we have at the moment," said Debbie Davis, co-owner of Hog Wild Bar B-Q & Grill alongside her husband and cook, Pete. "We sometimes have a person stand out on the road with a sign. We used to say 'We are hard to find but worth the time.'"

Located at 1547 Maple Avenue, Hog Wild Bar B-Q & Grill is perhaps the best kept secret in not only Brevard County, but the entire state of Florida.

What began as a catering business, known as Good Taste Caterers, has evolved into a homecooked eatery that serves a variety of southern delicacies, as well as American favorites.

Pete Davis opened the business in 2007, inside the catering facility he already owned, after receiving rave reviews for his barbecue from customers of his catering business.

"We have to have good food, because I think we wouldn't have any business without it," Mr. Davis said in regard to the eatery's small warehouse location. "They wouldn't come here without it. We get by with a little bit of advertisement. It's tough, but the restaurant does well."

The quaint building gives those who are looking for an escape from generic, chain restaurants or larger, chaotic eateries the chance to enjoy great food in a comforting atmosphere.

For barbecue lovers, Hog Wild offers pulled meats, slowly cooked with a state-of-the-art cooker, and a variety of homemade sauces, ranging from a Carolina Vinegar base to a delicious mustard flavored condiment.

Along with delicately prepared barbecue, Hog Wild offers ribs, grilled chicken, wings, hamburgers and, what the restaurant rightfully calls, the best Philly cheesesteaks in town.

Hog Wild Bar B-Q & Grill also offers free delivery, as well as catering.

Hog Wild Bar B-Q & Grill is located at 1547 Maple Ave., in Melbourne and is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
