Hurricane Preparedness Expo taking place June 1

Port St. Lucie's 2013 Hurricane Preparedness Expo will take place June 1, at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Reduced cost spay or neuter event

The St. Lucie/Indian River County Chapter of the United Humanitarians will be offering a one day Spay/Neuter Event at Dr. Dan's Animal Clinic, in Vero Beach, on June 3. This event is open to all Indian River and St. Lucie County pet owners.

Aquarium closed on Mondays

The St. Lucie County Aquarium, featuring the Smithsonian Marine Ecosystems Exhibit, has returned to its normal hours of operations and is now closed on Mondays.

The Aquarium was open on Mondays during the tourist season from January through March. Standard hours of operations for the Aquarium are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Sundays from noon to 4 p.m.

The aquarium is located at 420 Seaway Drive.

Free health seminars

The Treasure Coast Wellness Center is offering Free Health Seminars to HOA's (home owner associations), gated/retirement communities and other health conscience groups. There are a variety of topics available with no cost or obligation.

Information will be provided about Diabetes and Thyroid problems, weight loss, skin care and other ailments people are dealing with.
