Woman commits robbery at Walgreens
On May 13, an 83-year-old woman was followed out of the store into the parking lot of Walgreens located at 2110 SE Ocean Blvd. The woman reported that she was thrown to the ground and her purse was taken. The victim had a head injury and was transported to Martin Memorial Medical Center.
Stuart police arrested Heather Nicole Scherrer on May 14, charging her with robbery by sudden snatching and battery on an elderly person.
State Attorney attends law enforcement memorial
More than 300 guests joined Sheriff William Snyder and Attorney General Pam Bondi at the Martin County Sheriff's Office on May 15 to remember the fallen men and women are committed to protecting the community.
Also during Law Enforcement Memorial Week, Constable Walter Ball was dedicated to the Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C. on May 13. He was killed in the line of duty during a bar fight on May 18, 1913.
Operation tint check
Because of the rash of pillowcase burglaries, citizens at recent town hall meetings asked Sheriff Snyder to address the situation of illegal window tinting on vehicles. From that, Operation Tint Check is now underway, and will continue throughout the year.
