COCOA -- Beautiful, harmonious noise will not be hushed at the Central Brevard Public Library, as guests will enjoy an evening of "Dances and Other Delights."

On Thursday, May 30 at 7 p.m., the Cocoa-based library will host the Markstein Quartet for an evening of free entertainment. The quartet, led by Igor Markstein, will perform in Meeting Room 1.

"Brevard County Public Libraries has been hosting the Markstein Quartet for a number of years," said Joyce Wilden of Buzz Biz Public Relations. "Traditionally, the Markstein's perform a concert in December -- at the holidays -- and then also in the spring."

The Markstein Quartet is made up of Mr. Markstein on violin, his wife, Joan Markstein on cello, Joni Roos on violin and Space Coast Symphony Orchestra concertmaster Carey Moorman on viola.

Attendees can enjoy a wide selection of dance favorites from around the world, as well as classical pieces, including Mozart's Quartet in D minor.

"All of the players are extremely accomplished and are teachers, as well as professional musicians," Mrs. Wilden said. "Since most orchestral 'seasons' end in April, this provides music lovers another chance to hear some of the best string players on the Space Coast absolutely free!"

Guests can waltz, samba, tango and more around the large meeting room as the Markstein Quartet serenades them. The performance is also set to be an interactive and intimate experience for those who attend.

"Because the players are also teachers, the performance is very interactive, with questions from the audience members and terrific historical information and details about the composers supplied by Mrs. Markstein," Mrs. Wilden said. "Very often, young players or aspiring students are in the audience, and it's wonderful to see the rapt attention they pay to the musicians. This is a chamber setting, rather than a concert hall, so people get to observe the musicians close up."

The Central Brevard Public Library will host the Markstein Quartet on Thursday, May 30 at 7 p.m. for "Dances and Other Delights." The free concert will be held in Meeting Room 1.

The Central Brevard Public Library is located at 308 Forrest Ave., Cocoa.
