FORT PIERCE -- Captain Jax Sandbar & Grill will host, direct from Jamaica, The Original Wailers, at 7 p.m. on May 24.

The Grammy-nominated reggae band will be performing at one of the newest venues in Fort Pierce, Captain Jax Sandbar & Grill.

"The Original Wailers scouted Captain Jax out for their concert," said Plythe Gibbons, of www.treasuresoffortpierce.com. "The venue was smaller than usual, but they loved the uniqueness and location."

The band was nominated for their new album "Miracle," and plays all of the great Bob Marley & The Wailers hits, plus they'll sprinkle in a few songs from their new CD.

"Captain Jax features a stellar sound and lighting system and will have additional concert sound brought in for this special show," said Ms. Gibbons. "It is as state of the art as you can get for an outdoor venue, and this will be the party to be at in town. The event will be groundbreaking, to say the least, and Captain Jax has more upcoming concerts in the works. Having lead guitarist Al Anderson's presence is an honor."

Mr. Anderson is the sole original member of the group, and Bob Marley hand-picked the skillful guitarist back in 1974. Mr. Anderson has carried on Bob Marley & The Wailers tradition as Bob himself requested of Mr. Anderson before he passed away of cancer.

Also in the band is legendary Jamaican singer Erica Newell, known worldwide for her vocals in the platinum-selling and Grammy-award winning reggae group Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers. The other band members include Desi Hyson, songwriter, guitarist and keyboards; Tyrone Downie on keyboards; Steve Samuels on bass guitar; and Paapa Nyarkoh on drums.

There are always drink specials going on and there are tickets left that can be purchased at Captain Jax Sandbar and Grill for $15. However, tickets are going fast.

Captain Jax is the newest hot spot in Fort Pierce with the tag line, "X marks the spot for a good time!" The venue is an outdoor sandbar with a tiki-style concept, managed and built by Stevie Sticks and his crew. The murals and ambiance is all about the pirate's life. The food is amazing and the staff is friendly. They offer live music daily for lunch and most evenings with laser lighting and state of the art sound system.

Tickets are available at: Captain Jax or through www.ticketmaster.com
