ST. LUCIE COUNTY -- St. Lucie County's Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department is offering American Red Cross Water Safety lessons at all three county pools this spring.
Water safety lessons are offered to ages 6 months and older. Taught in six sessions, the American Red Cross Water Safety course is $61.
Financial aid is available to St. Lucie County families who wish to enroll their children ages 18 and younger, thanks to the generous support of the WPSL Christmas Kids Sponsorship Fund and the Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County. These partial sponsorships are limited and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
The classes will be offered at the following pools in Fort Pierce:
The Lakewood Park Pool is located at 5990 Emerson Ave. in Fort Pierce. Register by calling (772) 462-3772. Registration for water safety lessons begins May 25, during normal operating hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Classes will be offered in the mornings and on Saturdays.
The Lincoln Park Pool is located at 1311 Avenue M in Fort Pierce. Register by calling (772) 462-1903. Registration for water safety lessons takes place May 25 and June 1 during normal operating hours from 1 to 5 p.m. Starting June 8, participants can register Mondays through Thursdays as well as Saturdays during normal operating hours. Classes will be offered in the evenings.
