FORT PIERCE -- When customers step into Hidden Treasures Antique Mall, hopefully they have cleared their schedule for at least a couple of hours.

That's how long it will take to walk through the 20,000-square-foot, two-level store that offers choices from a $1 pocketknife to a $5,000 piece of furniture.

"There's something for everyone here," said Manny Martinez, who owns the store with his wife, Barbie. The couple has been there since Nov. 1, 2009, updating the building and adding vendors.

Now, almost four years later, a new roof, air- condition system and paint job keep customers comfortable while they browse through more than 70 vendor booths.

"The vendors rent a space, and then set their own prices," Mr. Martinez said. "People pay at one location, and we keep track of it at the counter. Some of the vendors have been with us since we opened."

The vendors offer myriad selection of items. While one might sell records and books, the booth next to it is offering plates and glassware.

Not an inch of space is wasted, as pictures line the walls all the way up to the ceiling and in one corner area rugs are hung, waiting to be looked over.

The couple bring more than 20 years' of experience to the business, and purchase the furniture they sell in the downstairs part of the building from estate sales.

"What we don't use we donate to local thrift stores," he said. "We sell all wood furniture, and look for high-quality items."

So even if a customer is just browsing or shopping for something specific, there could be a "hidden treasure" waiting for them here.

Hidden Treasures Antique Mall is located at 3128 N. U.S. 1 in Fort Pierce. It is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday.
