Third annual BBQFest coming to fairgrounds

MARTIN COUNTY -- The third annual BBQFest will be held at the Martin County Fairgrounds on Friday, May 31 and Saturday, June 1.

This is a state-sanctioned barbecue competition, and will feature up to 30 professional cooking teams, numerous local cooking teams with additional barbecue and food vendors.

The event will be open from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday.

Entertainment includes: Country Singer Al Jones, The Sweeny Family Band, M & M Square Dancers, American Idol Brooke Eden, Gregg Jackson and Curtis Wilson, Scribbles the Clown, Kickin' Country Line Dancers, Fabulous Feet Dance Team and The Annual Rib Rockin' Sauce Soppin' BBQ Boppin' Singer Showdown.

On Friday, the general Corn Hole tournament has a $50 entry fee per team; and on Saturday, a charity benefit Corn Hole Tournament between the Martin County Sheriff's Office and Fire Department will take place.

The Kids Zone will be open both days with Home Depot, bounce house, face painting and lots of fun.

On Saturday there will be a Craft Beer Fest, featuring more than 40 of America's Finest Craft Beers from 5 to 8 p.m. Advance wristbands are on sale.

Admission is free to the BBQFest. Parking is $5 with proceeds going to the Sheriff's Explorers and Martin County Fair Association.
