MARTIN COUNTY -- After the last couple of storms, in particular Hurricane Sandy, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers looked at a number of studies and where emergency disaster money could best be allocated.
Out of all the studies, 12 were given a "positive outcome" and were determined to warrant federal funds from the Flood Control and Coastal Emergency funds.
Martin County was one of the counties awarded a "positive outcome," along with a Fort Pierce Beach and places in Palm Beach and Brevard counties.
The reports were used to determine storm significance, the amount of damage, and if fixing what was damage would more or less costly then replacing it.
