SUNTREE -- Give Mom a symphony of sound for Mother's Day this year.

The Space Coast Symphony Orchestra will host "Pops Bouquet: A Tribute to Mothers" on Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Scott Center for the Performing Arts at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy. Cost for the event is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Children 18 and younger are free.

"This is the first time we are doing this type of program," said Aaron T. Collins, artistic director and conductor for the SCSO. "That being said, we have included it in our 2013-14 schedule, as well, and hope to make it a yearly event going forward."

Comprised of professional and select youth players, the SCSO will perform classical and popular favorites from Grieg, Brahms, Richard Rodgers, Johan Strauss Jr. and more.

Mothers will also receive a carnation upon arrival.

In order to truly make it a night to remember, Mr. Collins will invite the children in the audience up for a sweet treat to Mom.

"Children will get to come on stage and conduct the orchestra," Mr. Collins said. "I'll give a five-minute interactive conducting lesson, followed by an opportunity to conduct the orchestra."

Attendees are invited to a pre-performance gala, where guests can enjoy refreshments of desserts, coffee and other beverages.

"This is the perfect way to celebrate Mother's Day," Mr. Collins said. "Families are very important to us and our programming reflects that. It will be a performance that both children and adults will enjoy."
