High school students participate in art exhibit
Rating: 0.64 / 5 (22 votes)

Congratulations to the John Carroll High School art students who participated in the ArtMundo student art exhibit!

Many of the JCHS art students helped create a group piece for the student show, which featured a variety of sea creatures. The colorful sculpture titled "Into the Deep" earned an Award of Excellence, as judged by local professionals.

Congratulations also to senior Kelsey Mills, who was one of only three winners of the "People's Choice" award and a $50 gift certificate. Each visitor attending the opening reception for Art Mundo's St. Lucie County High School Show voted for his/her favorite work of art, and Kelsey's work earned this prestigious distinction. Her clay sculpture entitled, "AaaaaY!" was also given the highest score, which is an Award of Excellence.

A total of nine John Carroll students earned awards at one of three levels, including Emerging Artist, Award of Merit, or Award of Excellence.

Students Emily Whitty, Eli Duran, Meaghan Shearer, Polly Harrison, Micky Kwon, Alex Attamer, Noely Luna, and Mariah Menke represented John Carroll with distinction. More than 100 works of art are on view until the end of April at Art Mundo's Underground Gallery, which is located at 111 Orange Avenue in downtown Fort Pierce.

John Carroll High School is located at 3402 Delaware Avenue in Fort Pierce and serves students, both Catholic and non-Catholic, from Palm Beach, St. Lucie, Indian River, Martin, and Okeechobee counties.

JCHS is proud to accept Step Up For Students scholarships which allow those currently in the program to attend JCHS at a reduced fee or any students who are currently in a public school to attend JCHS for a reduced fee once they complete the necessary paperwork.
