Register for camp now

It's time to register for the Ormond Beach Summer Connection Day Camp Program.

Summer Connection enrollment packets can either be downloaded from the city website, ormondbeach.org, or picked up at the Ormond Beach Leisure Services Registration Office, 399 N U.S. 1.

The programs will be for children ages 6-13 (age as of Sept. 1) at the South Ormond Neighborhood Center, 176 Division Ave.

This year there will be two four-week sessions of Summer Connection Day Camp: from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. June 17 -July 12 and July 15-Aug. 9.

Each four-week session will be $200 for residents (proof of residency required); and $300 for non-residents.

Halifax River Yacht Club offers youth sailing

The Halifax River Yacht Club will host a youth sailing camp at the docks of the Halifax River Yacht Club, 331 S. Beach St., Daytona Beach, and in the adjacent Halifax Harbor Basin.

This year, the program begins on June 10 and will run for four weeks. Cost to participate begins at $125 for members, $145 for non-members, with discounts for additional weeks and additional participants from the same family.

Beginner classes start at age 8, while young boaters up to 16 years old may take part.

Volusia County plans summer camps for kids

Kids can learn, play and explore during Volusia County's summer camps, offered at 20 sites.

Parks, Recreation and Culture

The county's recreation program is offering eight weeks of supervised activities, sports, crafts and field trips for children ages 5 to 15. The camps will be from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 10 through Aug. 2. The cost is $65 per week plus a one-time $15 registration fee. Registration will be from 9 a.m. to noon May 18 and June 1 at each site. For more information, call (386) 736-5953.

Daytona State to host free summer camps at ATC

Daytona State College is offering a series of free, four-day summer camps for Volusia County high school students in grades 9-11.

All camps will be June 10-13, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Advanced Technology College, 1770 Technology Blvd., Daytona Beach.

A total of 80 students (20 students per camp) will have the opportunity to participate in the following camps: Robotics, Interior Design, Machining and AUTOCAD/Drafting.

Students can pick up applications from their school guidance department or their career and technical teacher. They must be submitted by Tuesday, April 30, to Debra Dumas, Career and Technical Education, DeLand Administrative Complex, 200 N. Clara Ave., DeLand, FL. 32720. Students will be notified of camp acceptance by Friday, May 17.

Summer art camp at Ormond Memorial Art Museum

Summer camp at the Ormond Memorial Art Museum is designed for children ages 6-12. Camp begins at 9a.m. and runs until noon, Monday to Friday at 78 E. Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach.

Each week is a different camp.

The Summer Camps are filled on a first/come, first served basis. Register now by calling (386) 676-3347 or see ormondartmuseum.org. Pack a snack and a drink for break time each day.

Cost is $112.50 for members and $125 for non-members.

Art summer camp

Gretchen Neal will offer seven weeks of art camps at St. James Episcopal Church and School, 38 S. Halifax Drive, Ormond Beach.

Camps are from 9 a.m. to noon Monday to Friday. Camps are for children ages 5 to 12. Cost is $125 per week and includes supplies.

For an additional fee, children may be enrolled in the St. James Episcopal Church and School all day summer camp program, which is open until 5 p.m.

Campers should bring their own snack.

MOAS announces annual summer learning institute

Sponsored by Bright House Networks, the 2013 Summer Learning Institute for children aged 4-13 at the Museum of Arts & Sciences begins June 10 and runs through Aug. 2 (no classes week of July 4).

Each class is $80 for members or $90 for non-members, per student.

All classes will be at the Museum of Arts & Sciences, 352 S. Nova Road, Daytona Beach.

Football clinic offered

The 7th annual Bruce McNorton Free Football Clinic will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. June 6-8, at the Derbyshire Complex in Daytona Beach. Camp is for ages 5 and older.

Registration forms may be picked up at the Midtown Sports Center, the Dickerson Center and Daytona Beach Leisure Services.

USTA Florida plans achievement camp

Some of the top coaches in the nation and from across Florida, and some of Florida's most promising tennis juniors from diverse backgrounds will gather at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach on June 26-30 for the 10th annual USTA Florida Camp Achieving through Coaching & Education.

The camp emphasizes match play, parent education and life skills. Parent attendance for some sessions is recommended.

There are limited scholarships available.

YMCA day camps set

The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA is offering day camp to give kids and teens in Volusia County an adventurous, active and healthy summer.

The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA also offers specialty camps such as Basketball, Cheer Camp, Art Camp and Tennis Camp.

To ensure that all youth have the chance to experience camp, the YMCA also offers financial assistance to those in need.
