Police Officer's ball to take place April 27

FORT PIERCE -- The eighth annual Treasure coast Police Officers Ball to benefit the Fort Pierce PAL, will be held on April 27, at the Pelican Yacht Club at 6 p.m.

The event, emceed by Deputy City Manager Nick Mimms, will recognize several local officers. Special guest for the event will be State Representative Larry Lee.

"This year, Fort Pierce PAL is recognizing all of the law enforcement officers because all of them are special," said Audria Moore, public information officer with the Fort Pierce Police Department. "Each agency will recognize an officer from within to represent them."

The Fort Pierce Police Department will recognize Officer Brian Avilla for his outstanding effort in hiring 15 new officers to fill recent vacancies in the department.

Sgt. Adam Goodner will be recognized by the St. Lucie Sheriff's Department. Sgt. Goodner supervises the criminal investigation division/technical services unit. He is being recognized for his vast knowledge in all areas of law enforcement, which is a great benefit to the department.

The Port St. Lucie Police Department is recognizing Officer Richard Giaconne for his outstanding commitment to the department.

The Fort Pierce Police Athletic League will honor these law enforcement officers who have exemplified the profession's charge to "protect and serve."

Tickets for this formal event are $100 each and includes sit-down dinner, a silent and live auction and entertainment.

Sponsors for the event include Hometown News and PNC Bank. All proceeds from the event will benefit Fort Pierce PAL.
