To the editor:

The Voluntary Preschool Program is a fun and exciting way for children to learn. It is great way for them to develop many skills needed. It also teaches them socialization skills which are very important.

The VPK Program is offered through The Early Learning Coalition. It is free to every child that is four by September 1 of the school year and is a resident of Florida. The VPK Program is voluntary for providers and children. It is offered by both private and public providers. The parent may choose either a 300-hour summer program or a 540-hour school year program. Each VPK Provider must use an approved curriculum. These curriculums are designed to build skills to prepare children for Kindergarten. These skills are important for children to learn at an early age.
