'Native Beauty' opening reception
There will be an opening reception for a new collection "Native Beauty," inspired by the beauty of native natural Florida and Native American Southwest, Friday, April 26 from 6-9 p.m. with live music by acoustic guitarist Jesse Long.
"Native Beauty" features pottery by Jan Coleman and photography by Richard Proffitt.
The event will be at The Downtown Gallery, 335 S. Washington Ave., in downtown Titusville.
This is a free event. Wine, hors d' oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

Variety of art classes
The Central Brevard Art Association offers art classes throughout the week, excepting Sundays.
Being offered is oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil, pastel, mixed media, silks, tole painting and jewelry.
Beginners are always welcome, as it's an opportunity to unleash and develop those hidden talents. Membership is not required to attend classes.

'Celebrating Shakespeare' in Brevard
The Brevard Theatrical Ensemble presents seven young, beautiful and talented ladies in the fifth presentation of "Celebrating Shakespeare."
Curtain time is 8 p.m. Friday, April 26; Saturday, April 27; Sunday, April 28, with a matinee curtain time of 3 p.m.
These productions will take place at the Porcher House, 434 Delannoy Ave., Historic Cocoa Village.
Cost is $15 per person and includes coffee and desserts.

Wheel-thrown pottery class
A six-week wheel-thrown pottery class will start Saturday, April 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Indian River Pottery Studio, 1542 Guava Ave., Eau Gallie Arts District, Melbourne.
Cost for the six weeks is $145. The instructor is Mary Moon.
This is a great class for beginning and continuing students.
Instruction will be focused on throwing bowls, cylinders and mugs. Surface enrichment and glazing will also be covered.
This class allows for individual project and skill development.

Artist's photographs featured at show
Three of Rene Griffith's photographs will be part of "Spring Thaw," Pizza Gallery's fourth annual group show, featuring tropical sea- and surf-inspired art.
The three images, entitled "Lost in the Sea of Life," "Your Destiny in the Stars" and "Reading the Sky," were all photographed locally in Indialantic and the Banana River.
The Pizza Gallery and Grill is located at The Avenue in Viera, 2250 Town Center Ave. The exhibit will run through April 27.
In addition to being a fine art photographer, Ms. Griffith paints in her Indialantic home art studio. She enjoys creating acrylic abstract paintings and collages.
An active member of Fifth Avenue Art Gallery, located in the Eau Gallie Arts District of Melbourne, she licenses her photographs to fine art publishers and manufacturers in the United States and Canada.

Art Gallery of Viera artists do it again
Anywhere that Art Gallery of Viera artists go, they come home with awards.
Deb Pettigrew, pastel artist and teacher at Art Gallery of Viera, won first place for her piece, "Lingering," at the 49th Annual Titusville Art League Spring Art Show.
But she's not alone, Linda Krupp, oil painter, won a merit award for "A Moment in Time" at the same show.
Heidi Stocker won first place for her beautiful stained glass work at the Strawbridge Art Leagues' "Mini-Vision's" Show.

Gallery award winners
The Downtown Gallery has announced that four top artists received awards at the Titusville Art League's 49th Annual Spring Show.
In photography, second place went to Heidi Thamert for "Tools of the Trade," and a merit to Dale Nichols for "My Little Friend."
In watercolor, Diane DeShong Cannon received two merit awards for "My Pink Cadillac" and for "Greenhouse Guests."
And in the category of oil and acrylic, Linda Krupp received a merit for "A Moment in Time.
