INDIAN RIVER COUNTY -- Beginning April 16, all patients, inpatients and outpatients, will enter Indian River Medical Center through a new entry located on the second floor, adjacent to the Emergency Department entrance, in the hospital's new Outpatient Services Pavilion.

Visitors, however, will continue to enter the hospital through the main lobby entrance on the first floor.

The $6 million Outpatient Services Pavilion is the final project of The 21st Century Campaign for Indian River Medical Center, which raised more than $52 million toward its master facility plan.

The capital campaign funded the hospital's state-of-the-art Emergency Department in 2005, followed by The Heart Center in affiliation with Duke Medicine in 2006, the Sheridan Intensive Care Unit and Waxlax Recovery Room, which opened in February 2013, and now, the Outpatient Services Pavilion.

The Outpatient Services Pavilion will include the following:

o Chemotherapy Infusion Center

o Patient Registration

o Infectious Disease Infusion Center

o New Magnetom Aera 1.6T Open Bore MRI scanner, latest generation of Siemens magnetic resonance imaging equipment, featuring a larger 70 cm. bore, more precise technology, and greatly reduced testing times. Can provide access to obese patients; alleviates concerns of claustrophobia since it has an ultra-short bore (145 cm.), allowing many exams to be performed with the patient's head outside the bore.

o Physician offices

The new 13,000-square feet Outpatient Services Pavilion has been designed to enhance efficiency and provide more convenient, patient friendly access to hospital services.
