Teams forming for summer play

For Hometown News

The Indian River County Recreation Department will start taking registrations for the 2013 Summer Basketball Season on April 15, with the season to start the week of June 17. Games will be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

This co-ed league is designed to teach the fundamentals of basketball, sportsmanship, discipline and most importantly, fun. Children ages 4-15 are encouraged to participate. Player fees are $35 and sponsor fees are $150. Birth certificates are required at time of registration. Registration will close on May 31.

Teams will be separated by age divisions:

Tot-Time, 4-5 years old

Mighty Mite, 6-8 years old

Midgets, 9-10 years old

Juniors 11-12 years old

Seniors 13-15 years old

Playing age is the age reached by Aug. 31, 2013.

Coaches, officials, and sponsors are needed for all age groups.

Sign up at the County Administration Building or North County Aquatic Center between 8:30a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, call (772) 226-1732.

Registration for Indian River County Recreation Baseball will be in full swing on April 15. Registration will run until May 31.Practices will begin in early June and games will start the week of June 17. Games will be played on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays.

Games will be at South County Regional Park, 16th Street Sports Complex, and North County Regional Park. Registration is $35 per player and $150 per team sponsor. Players will be supplied with a shirt, hat, and season-ending trophy.

Tot Time Tee Ball is for 4 to 5 year olds

Mighty mites is for 6 to 8 year olds.

Birth Certificate required upon registration.
