Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Gamma Mu Omega Chapter, has announced the winners of its inaugural Male Cook-off on March 24 at the Daytona Beach Resort & Conference Center.
Appetizers: Arthur Wesley Wright, first; Anthony Kenner, second; Jermaine McKinney, third.
Salads: Greg Dew, first; Wallace Lowery, second; Robert Jones, third.
Entrees: Ferrin Harris, first; Kenrick Flowers, second; James Daniels, third.
Desserts: Wallace Lowery and David Howard, tie for first; Ray Willis, second; Patrick Bartee, third.
Other participants were Terence Culver, John Dixon, Arthur Green, Kelvin Mayner, Larry Stoney, Herbert Thomas, Lavon Thomas, Kenneth Walker and Arthur Wright.
Nathaniel Anthony, Vince Carter's Restaurant; Dr. Graham Bowcher, Bethune-Cookman University; and Chef Robert McGrath, Daytona Beach Resort & Conference Center served as judges.
In conjunction with the United Negro College Fund, the event offered an opportunity for men of the community -- hobbyist and professional -- to showcase their culinary talents. Proceeds from the event will go towards college scholarships for Volusia County students. The scholarships will be presented jointly by Gamma Mu Omega and UNCF.
