PALM CITY -- This year's Bun Fest will keep bunnies and their owners hopping at the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 6.

Rabbit owners are invited to bring their healthy bunnies to the event, but they must be in a pet stroller, pet carrier or carried in a proper harness at all times. Rabbits are not permitted to run loose. Owners are responsible for their rabbit's safety, care and comfort. No other animals are permitted to attend Bun Fest.

There will be a number of activities that will be held during this indoor and outdoor event.

For a small donation, bunnies will be groomed, which includes brushing them, clipping their nails and cleaning their glands and ears.

The Bunny Olympics will feature an obstacle course of tubes, slides and teeter-totters for bunnies to show off their moves.

For rabbits that need to be spayed or neutered, services will be available for $30.

For those looking for a "Bunny Glamour Shot," professional photos using props and a fun background will be taken for a small donation.

In addition, there will be a toy-making station where participants can make a fun unique toy for their rabbit. There will also be arts and crafts donated by Stuart Pottery and Ceramics that children can paint.

Patty Cake Art will provide face painting, games and balloon twisting and there will be music with a disc jockey, courtesy of T-Rex Entertainment.

A number of bunnies and other critters also will be available for adoption. Toys, treats and clothing will be for sale, and giveaways and raffles will round out the event.

The Treasure Coast Humane Society is located at 4100 S.W. Leighton Farm Ave., in Palm City. Admission to the Bun Fest is free. For more information, call (772) 223-8822 or (772) 708-9668.
