MARTIN COUNTY --

LEADERship Martin County Alumni were treated to a luncheon on Feb. 8 at the hands of the Career Academy of Culinary Arts students at Martin County High School's Tiger's Den. The luncheon featured speaker Laurie Gaylord, Superintendent of the Martin County School District.

Business leaders who make up the organization of LEADERship Alumni heard Ms. Gaylord, a graduate of LEADERship Martin County, Class 14, speak about creating a good environment for students.

"We are all truly partners in providing our students with a high quality education in a safe, supportive learning environment," Ms. Gaylord said. "Our students are and always will be my number one priority. These students who are serving you the meal they prepared are a prime example of what we see throughout the various career academies in all of the high schools in Martin County."

In raising money and offering their experience and knowledge in a leadership capacity, LEADERship Martin County Alumni serve as mentors and investors in the future of Martin County, supporting and educating the students who will learn today in order to lead tomorrow.

LEADERship Martin County Alumni provides primary assistance to the LEADERship Martin County Program while offering crucial education and networking opportunities to its members. A formally incorporated and registered nonprofit with the State of Florida, the LEADERship Martin County Alumni Foundation directs and maintains Martin Youth Leadership, a program that provides an opportunity for high school sophomores and juniors throughout Martin County to develop and enhance their leadership skills.

LMCA members constantly strive to impact the community in a positive fashion by raising money to fund the valuable Martin Youth Leadership Scholarship and other important educational initiatives. The organization also works to enhance the overall community awareness of its membership base by sponsoring numerous opportunities to evaluate and engage with issues of vital importance.
