VIERA - The Milwaukee Brewers have announced the opening day roster for the 2013 Brevard County Manatees, which will be the club's 20th season on the Space Coast.
Left-handed starting pitcher Jed Bradley (ranked 11th), right-handed starting pitcher Drew Gagnon (18th), right-handed starting pitcher David Goforth (19th) and shortstop Yadiel Rivera (23rd) are four of the Brewers' top 30 prospects, according to "Baseball America," who will suit up for the 'Tees to start the season.
The 'Tees roster features 20 players who played for the Class-A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at one point in 2012, as that squad went on to win the Midwest League.
Third baseman Brandon Macias hit .288 in 2012, which led the Timber Rattlers and ranked him in the top ten in the Midwest League. He was also second in the Midwest League with a .388 on-base percentage.
First baseman Nick Ramirez led Wisconsin with 16 home runs and 70 runs batted in, despite not making his season debut until May 10 after fracturing the hamate bone in his right hand during spring training.
Outfielders Chad Stang and Ben McMahan also had impressive numbers as Stang led all Milwaukee minor leaguers with 85 runs scored, and McMahan was fourth in the Midwest League with a .500 slugging percentage and led the league with 11 triples.
On the mound, Goforth was fifth in Midwest League with 150.2 innings pitched, and both Chad Pierce and Mark Williams ranked in the top ten of all Brewers' minor leaguers in earned run average.
The Manatees will open its 2013 campaign on the road against the Daytona Cubs at Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Thursday, April 4 at 7:05 p.m.
Brevard County will return home the next night, to host the Cubs on Friday, April 5 at 6:35 p.m.
General admission tickets are $2, and the first 2,000 in attendance fans will receive a 2013 magnet schedule picture frame presented by Health First and Via Tuscany Apartments.
Following the game, there will be a fireworks show, presented by Creative Pyrotechnics.
