MALABAR -- Family fun will be aplenty this upcoming weekend.

The town of Malabar will host its annual SpringFest on Saturday, April 13. The free event will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Malabar Community Park.

"The SpringFest event offers a full day of fun for the whole family," said Cindi Kelley, event coordinator for SpringFest.

Families can enjoy live musical entertainment throughout the day, as well as a Kids' Zone, complete with bounce houses, clowns and games.

"We will have arts and crafts, jewelry, soaps, water treatment services and farm and feed store vendors, as well," Mrs. Kelley added.

The John Quinlivan Band will provide musical entertainment during the event. John Quinlivan will also act as the MC for Springfest.

For more than 20 years, the town of Malabar has hosted the SpringFest event. In its time, it has become a major showcase for the town, bringing together residents, as well as businesses and visitors to enjoy a plethora of activities.

"The event was started to provide a venue for members of the community to come out and enjoy the spring weather, visit with old friends, meet new friends, listen to good music and eat good food," Mrs. Kelley said.

The town of Malabar SpringFest will also host its second annual 5K Cow Bell run and walk, as well as a 10K run and walk during the event.

"The 5K Cow Bell run and walk offers a safe course for participants," Mrs. Kelley said. "Families, especially, like it because it is a paved course, but has no vehicle traffic."

Mrs. Kelley said that the 10K also offers a course that features unpaved trails within the Malabar Scrub Sanctuary, the Boundary Canal and the Al Tuttle trails.

The town of Malabar SpringFest is good fun for people of all ages, backgrounds and interests.

The town of Malabar SpringFest is Saturday, April 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Malabar Community Park.

Admission and parking are free.

Crafters and vendors may obtain an application for SpringFest by contacting Cindi Kelley at (321) 727-7764, Ext. 11 or at ckelley@townofmalabar.org.
