Promises were kept on March 23 when St. Lucie Sheriff Ken Mascara, former Port St. Lucie City Commissioner Jack Kelly and St. Lucie County Fire District Chief Ron Parrish had their heads shaved after the Mets vs. Nationals game at Tradition Field. The trio had promised to lose their locks if the community raised enough money for the Boys & Girls Club of St. Lucie County to keep their Port St. Lucie branch open for the children. Overall, the community raised more than $100,000 for the nonprofit organization.
