TREASURE COAST -- Cash for College at Indian River State College is a one-day event to help new and returning students obtain financial aid for college.

The event will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6 at all IRSC campuses and the IRSC Blackburn Educational Building in Fort Pierce.

The event is designed to help college-bound individuals of any age with the financial aid application process.

Those attending the event will get no-cost professional assistance completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA is required for any student seeking federal and state financial aid, including grants and loans. Attendees should bring their 2012 tax return and W-2 forms. Dependent students must also bring parents' tax and W-2 forms.

IRSC students are awarded over $30 million in financial aid, including grants and scholarships, each year.

"Don't let financial concerns stop you from obtaining a college education," said Mary Lewis, director of financial aid at IRSC. "We are ready to assist you with the financial-aid process and encourage anyone interested in continuing their education to attend Cash for College."

IRSC is recognized nationally for providing a quality education with affordable tuition. Substantiating this is the college's ranking as the fifth most affordable college in the country by the U.S. Department of Education and its ranking as the 10th top public regional college in the South by U.S. News & World Report.

Cash for College locations are the Main Campus, W Building, at the corner of Virginia Avenue and 35th Street in Fort Pierce; Blackburn Education Building, at 3002 Avenue D in Fort Pierce; Pruitt Campus, St. Lucie West Library at 500 N.W. California Blvd. in Port St. Lucie; Chastain Campus, Wolf High-Technology Center, Room C120, at 2400 S.E. Salerno Road in Stuart; Mueller Campus Schumann Center, Room D122, at 6155 College Lane in Vero Beach; Dixon Hendry Campus Williamson Center, Room C102 in Okeechobee.
