Society seeking members

The Singletarian Society of Martin and St. Lucie counties are looking for new members between 57 and 70. Members must be widows, widowers or divorced. Meets second Thursday of every month.

Library continues art program

The Morningside Branch Library hosts the "Walls of Art" program each month.

The display is ongoing and changes monthly, featuring different local artists.

The Morningside Branch of the St. Lucie County Library System is located at 2410 Morningside Blvd., Port St. Lucie.

Qiquong classes offered

Therapeutic Touch Medical Massage Clinic offers two qiquong classes on Tuesday evening at 7 p.m. and Saturday morning at 8:30 a.m. on the lagoon. Wear loose clothing. Beginners are welcome. There will be music, fruit and drinks provided. The massage clinic is also offering first-time clients an hour massage for only $45, a 25 percent discount for a limited time.

Band rehearsals slated

The Port St. Lucie community concert band rehearses every Thursday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center.

For those with problems with overeating, under eating, bulimia or anorexia, consider Food Addicts In Recovery. Meetings are held every Sunday at 8:30 a.m. in the Life Care Center at 3720 S.E. Jennings Road, Port St. Lucie.

Night out for parents

KidSpace offers parents a night out on Saturdays from 6-11p.m., while providing a safe, fun environment for children ages 4 to 13. Activities and snacks will be provided.

The cost is $25 per child, and a $5 sibling discount.

Bingo offered Friday nights

The American Legion Post No. 355 has bingo every Friday night starting at 7 p.m. Refreshments are available starting at 6:30 p.m. The post is located at 1150 California Blvd., Port St. Lucie.

Parenting classes offered

Care Net of the Treasure Coast will hold free parenting classes for moms, dads and parents-to-be from 7-8:30 p.m. every Tuesday evening at its Port St. Lucie office. Attendees have an opportunity to earn "baby bucks" which can be redeemed for baby clothes and furnishings. Class information and guest speakers vary weekly.

CareNet Pregnancy Centers provide free and confidential support, counseling and help for pregnant women. Hours of operation vary, but appointments can be made 24 hours a day. The center is asking for donations of formula, car seats and diapers.

Care Net is a nonprofit organization; tax-deductible donations to support programs such as the parenting class are appreciated. Donations may be made through PayPal on www.carenettc.com. Senior rec center program schedule

Seniors citizens who are looking for something to do can stop by Agape Senior Recreational Center at 809 N. Ninth St., Fort Pierce, weekdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

The center has regular exercise classes, bingo, discussion sessions, Bible study, plus outside trips to local museums, shopping, etc. Lunch is provided daily.

Group seeks volunteers

The Arc of St. Lucie County is looking to rebuild its volunteer base.

It is looking for motivated individuals to organize and head various volunteer committees. The areas include special events, mailings, technical support and capital campaign cultivation.

Get free vessel safety check

The Port St. Lucie Power Squadron offers free vessel safety checks. Qualified squadron members will check boat PFDs, lights, registration and required safety items to verify that they meet state and federal regulations.

If a vessel passes inspection, the owner will be issued a dated decal recognized by the Coast Guard and Marine Patrol for one year.

There will be no record kept of those who fail, and another request for a free inspection can be requested when deficiencies are corrected.

Youth tennis programs

The city tennis center at Whispering Pines Park offers beginning, intermediate and advanced tennis programs for children ages 6 to 18 after school and on weekends.
