MARTIN COUNTY -- Congratulations to Annmarie Sperger, an ESE Paraprofessional at Hidden Oaks Middle School, for being named the Martin County School District's 2013 School-Related Employee of the Year.

"Annmarie is dedicated to and proud of our school," wrote Principal Jenny Newsome in her nomination of Mrs. Sperger for this award. "She brings this pride and dedication to everything she does."

Ms. Sperger has 22 years of experience in education, with seven of those years at Hidden Oaks Middle School. Her co-workers describe her as being caring, energetic, and enthusiastic with a strong work ethic.

"I congratulate Ms. Sperger for being named the District's School-Related Employee of the Year," said Superintendent Laurie J. Gaylord. "This award honors employees who exemplify excellence in their profession. Ms. Sperger does just that every day in her role as an ESE Paraprofessional. The support she provides is instrumental in the success of her students and school."

Ms. Sperger will now represent the Martin County School District in the competition to be named the 2013 Florida School Related Employee of the Year.

In addition to the School-Related Employee of the Year award, the Martin County Association of School Administrators recognized the 2012-2013 Mary J. Brogan Scholarship Award Recipients. The scholarships are presented to employees pursuing their Bachelor's Degree in Education. Each scholarship is worth $1,000, and the recipients were Kimberly Soko, an ESE paraprofessional for Jensen Beach Elementary, and Maria Cruz, the classroom manager for the Head Start Class at Port Salerno Learning Center.
