COCOA -- Calling all gamblers and animal lovers! Put on your best poker face and be prepared to bet the farm for fuzzy and four-legged friends.
On Sunday, April 7, the Central Brevard Humane Society will host its 10th annual Molly Mutt Poker Run, beginning at 10 a.m.
All vehicles are welcome, as the CBHS celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Poker Run.
"The Central Brevard Humane Society began the Molly Mutt Poker Run as a different type of fundraising event for our organization," said Eileen Cole, media relations manager for the Central Brevard Humane Society.
And the event is definitely unique.
The first stop on the poker run is at the Central Brevard Humane Society in Cocoa and will conclude at the Fraternal Order of Eagles on Merritt Island.
"The poker run usually hosts individuals on motorcycles and other vehicles," said Mrs. Cole. "They visit give checkpoints around Brevard, drawing a playing card at each one. The object is to have the best poker hand at the end of the run."
The first vehicle out is scheduled to depart at 10 a.m., with the last leaving at 11:30 a.m.
The Molly Mutt Poker Run will include a 50/50 drawing, vendor displays, food and live entertainment by D.J. Doc Holiday, beginning at 1 p.m.
"We will be awarding prizes for the 'best', 'worst', and 'mystery' hands," Mrs. Cole added.
All proceeds raised at the Molly Mutt Poker Run will help raise awareness and financial support for the Central Brevard Humane Society and the thousands of abandoned pets who are seeking a forever home.
The Molly Mutt Poker Run will be Sunday, April 7 at 10 a.m. The event will begin at the Central Brevard Humane Society, located at 1020 Cox Road in Cocoa, and will conclude at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, located at 1050 N. Courtenay Parkway on Merritt Island.
Cost to participate is $7 per hand, or two hands for $10.
