At the bi-monthly meeting held in January in the Martin County Commission Chambers, the Martin County Tourist Development council welcomed new members Steven Vitale, Suzanne O'Toole and Martin County District 3 Commissioner Anne Scott.
Councilman Vitale and Councilwoman O'Toole are both in the local hotel industry with Councilman Vitale at the Old Colorado Inn and Councilwoman O'Toole at the Clarion Inn. Both bring years of experience in tourism to the council
Commissioner Scott was chosen by the Martin County Board of Commissioners as the representative on the council.
In addition, a new chair and vice-chair for the tourist development council were selected. Mayor Tom Bausch of Sewell's Point was selected as chairman, and Susan O'Toole was selected as vice-chairwoman.
The Tourist Development Council is enthusiastic of the potential this council has in order to bring a fresh look to tourism in Martin County.
The council is tasked to improve efforts to attract tourism to Martin County, and is an advisory board whose role is to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners regarding the use of the tourist development tax dollars.
