INDIAN RIVER COUNTY -- The VAPA Choral Parents' Association for the Indian River Charter High School Choral Department is sponsoring Glee & Crumpets: A Tea and Trunk Show on April 20 at the community Church in Vero Beach.

The trunk show will be in the covered walkways from 1 to 4 p.m. The tea will be inside the Community Hall, and will include tea and nibbles with a variety of musical performances by the choral groups from the high school.

The tea seating is at 2 p.m. and doors will open at 1 p.m. There will also be gift raffles and silent auctions. Tickets are $15 pre-purchase.

The trunk show will feature approximately 30 local businesses and artisans. The proceeds from this event will not only help to purchase new girls uniforms and to fund scholarships, but a portion will also be given to the Samaritan Center for Homeless Families in Vero Beach.

The group is looking for donations of teapots, creamers and sugars, and teacups and saucers to help keep costs down. Sponsors and vendors are also needed for the Trunk Show and donations of auction and raffle items.

The VAPA Choral program, under the direction of Gary Miller, provides an outstanding learning environment for serious students of music. They have received superior ratings at both district and state music festivals. They have also participated in many invitational choir programs including Carnegie Hall and most recently at the Aegean Sea Music Festival in Greece during July of 2012. Their newest invitations include performing at the Vatican and a choice of three locales to represent the state in commemorations of the 70th anniversary of World War II. This program is respected at the highest levels of music education.

The Samaritan Center for Homeless Families offers long-term transitional housing and guidance to the homeless families in Indian River County. The extensive training programs prepare the families for successful, independent living.
