Heritage Bluegrass Band plays Tuesdays 7:30-9:30 p.m., through May 2013. Admission is free, but donations help cover the costs. The band performs bluegrass, gospel and old country music and provides the refreshments. Children are welcome to come enjoy the music, accompanied by an adult. Alcohol is not permitted. Dances are held the second Wednesday of the month through June 2013, from 7-9:30 p.m.. Come listen or dance to the best big band sounds in town. Attire is dressy, but not formal. Cost is $5. USA Dance welcomes all dancers the third Thursday of each month, year round, from 7-10 p.m. Come for a lesson, open social dancing or both. A different popular ballroom dance style and theme is featured every month. Singles, couples and all levels of dance abilities are welcome. Political meetings held
Dining with the democrats takes place on the third Tuesday of the month from 6:30-8 p.m. at The River House, 305 Acacia Road, Vero Beach. Each meeting will include a featured speaker. Bring a dish that serves six or a $5 donation.

Karate class offered
The Indian River County Recreation Department is holding a karate class at Gifford Aquatic Center on Saturdays, from 2-3 p.m.
This class is designed for participants 5 years to adult and helps build motivational skills, regulate weight and is also a tool to help with anger management.
The class is free, however uniforms need to be purchased. Child uniforms cost $25 and adult uniforms cost $30.

Public speakers wanted
The Gifford Youth Activity Center has established a multi-faceted public speaker's bureau. It has organized a group of individuals with diverse business backgrounds who are available, even on short notice, to speak to local agencies, clubs, organizations and business.
Presentations will begin with the speaker's field of expertise and conclude with a brief presentation about the programs and services offered by the center.

Group offers help with grief
New Beginnings, a group established to assist people in resolving their grief over the death of a loved one, meets every Monday at 7 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church 900 27th Ave., Vero Beach.
New Beginnings is an informal but helpful experience in grief resolution. People are invited to attend any or all meetings.

La Leche League is a nonprofit organization, whose mission is to help mothers breastfeed through mother-to-mother support.
The La Leche League of the Treasure Coast meets in different locations from Palm City to Sebastian.

Group seeks donors
The Gifford Youth Activity Center is looking for 20 individuals, businesses or organizations willing to make a three-year commitment of raising $20,000 per year to keep the activity center's success ongoing.

Center hosts water exercise class
The North County Aquatics Center is offering Aquanautics, a water fitness class, designed to strengthen and firm muscles, improve cardio and respiratory function and increase flexibility.
Other benefits include better balance and coordination. Participants benefit from the water with less strain on the bones and joints. Exercise movements and are choreographed to music. The classes are offered Tuesday and Thursday 9:30-10:30 a.m.
The fee is $4 per class or a punch card for eight classes for $28.

The Indian River County Extension Service offers presentations on the Internet that are created and narrated by agents on agriculture, environmental horticulture, pond maintenance, irrigation, 4-H and storm water pollution.
