The Flagship Detroit, an American Airlines DC-3, spent some time in Vero Beach for Aviation Day March 2. As soon as you step aboard the 1937 Douglas DC-3, you step back into an aviation era long since gone. Twenty area residents got to experience flying on one America's first passenger airliners with a trip around Indian River County. The Flagship Detroit Foundation relies on memberships to keep this piece of aviation history flying. Flagship Detroit pilot Captain Tony DeSantis has the helm of the Douglas DC-3 as he flies over Vero Beach March 1. For more information, visit www.flagshipdetroit.org.
