A 60-acre brushfire closed both the north and southbound lanes of I-95 Wednesday, March 6 for several hours. The fire was contained mostly to property in Indian River County. Equipment and manpower included four engines and five brush trucks from Indian River County, one engine, one tanker, two brush trucks and a command vehicle and plow vehicles and a water helicopter from the Florida Division of Forestry. The northbound lanes reopened around 5:30 p.m. and the southbound lanes opened a few hours later. There were no injuries reported. The fire did jump to an area east of the Indian River County Corrections facility but was quickly extinguished by the FDOF helicopter.
