TREASURE COAST -- The Friends in Pink, the Pink Tie Friends organization on the Treasure Coast has new leadership.

Cheryl Norman Caldwell has been selected as the new president of the nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds to help breast cancer patients with inadequate health insurance, in Martin, St. Lucie and Indian River counties.

"This is quite an honor to take over the reins of such a helping organization," said Ms. Caldwell, president, Pink Tie Friends and Friends in Pink. "While we recently changed our official name and we have new leadership, my goal is that our mission and that of our volunteers and our Board of Directors remains the same in providing financial assistance to breast cancer patients on the Treasure Coast who either have no insurance or are underinsured."

New officers include Secretary, Mary Jane Searfoorce; Valerie Collins continues as Treasurer. The vice presidency position remains open. Presidency remains open. Immediate past president, Judy Schilder, now joins the Friends in Pink Board of Directors along with Madeline Herrmann, Kathy Harwood, and Allen Everett.

Ms. Caldwell says Friends in Pink is continuing to grow with nearly 200 recipients helped in the last year.

"To grow our services to the tri-county area we constantly need new faces and fresh sources of financial support. As word of our work helping breast cancer patients receive life-saving surgery and treatment spreads, we are prepared to welcome those who wish to make a generous donation of their time or their dollars to help others," she said.
