FORT PIERCE -- For the more than a decade, civic-minded volunteers have held a fundraiser for Restoration House at a celebration called FloriDay.
This festive fundraiser celebrating recovering lives will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on March 17. Cost is $100 per person.
"The funds raised will give people who have life controlling problems, such as drug or alcohol abuse, illiteracy or poverty, the tools to re-enter society in a productive way," said Ginny Fowler, co-chair.
The FloriDay setting is on the grounds of a historic home in Fort Pierce where guests can mingle under old oak trees or explore landscapes of lush, native plants. Party-goers will be entertained with a live band as they explore gardens, a pond and grounds with artful surprises, including the Anita Prentice glass mosaic mural lining the above-ground swimming pool.
Guests can also look at a variety of silent auction items that are sure to excite those who love nature.
For those who want to have a more integral part in restoring lives through Restoration House, sponsorships are available ranging from $250 to $5,000, which covers medical evaluations for five clients and up to two months of the entire program for one client, respectively.
Restoration House, a 501(c)3 organization, is commemorating 16 years of restoring lives. Founded by Frances Watson and Mareya Schneider, its mission is to offer people with life-controlling problems abuse a way out.
It is the only long-term residential program of its kind in the surrounding five counties.
