Grand theft at gas station
At approximately 11 a.m. on Feb. 26, a theft occurred at the Mobil gas station located at 8990 20th St. in western Indian River County.
Preliminary information indicates a distraction theft by up to six suspects.
Detectives believe a suspect entered the back office while the store was busy and stole money.
It is believed the suspects left the scene in a black Chevy Impala.
At this time, it is considered a theft and not a robbery.

Drug abuse symposium announced
A free drug abuse resource symposium, presented by the Hanley Center Foundation, will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on March 20 at the Indian River County Administration, Building A, located at 1801 27th St., in Vero Beach.
The symposium will include presentation from medical professionals on how to combat drug abuse; a question and answer portion with the audience and panel discussions.
This event is co-hosted by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, Indian River County Government, the University of Florida School of Psychiatry, the Vero Beach Police Department and Substance Abuse Free Indian River.
The event is free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
