Brevard County residents, in need of medical, dental or chiropractic care, who do not have any health insurance, can contact Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine at (321) 914-0915 for free health care.
There are no application fees, no sliding scale fees. Free is truly free at SCVIM, located in Palm Bay. Services are by appointment only. No emergency care is provided.
The clinic is staffed by 90 volunteer health providers from the community.
Space Coast Volunteers in Medicine is supported by grants, donations and fundraising events, such as the upcoming Wine & Chocolate Fundraising Dinner on Sunday, Feb. 24.
But there are restrictions, established by the state of Florida - not the clinic - regarding eligibility.
Eligibility requirements for free medical, dental, chiropractic and wellness services:
Be a resident of Brevard County for at least six months.
Be at least 19 years of age, less than 65 years of age.
Have no health insurance of any kind, public or private. No Medicaid clients accepted.
Annual household income must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level for the size of your household, and appropriate documentation and proof of income is required during screening.
Patients are asked to call the clinic for a pre-screening to review eligibility.
