GED seekers have until year's end to meet testing deadline
Adults who have passed some, but not all, of the General Educational Development high school equivalency test have until the end of the year to finish, or they will have to start over because a new version of the test will be released in January 2014.
At Daytona State College's Assessment Center, where GED testing takes place year-round at each of its five campus locations, test-takers are heeding the call.
The GED Testing Service's 2014 version of the exam will offer two performance levels: a high school equivalency credential and an additional endorsement that indicates career and college readiness. The "paper and pencil" version of the test will be eliminated; the test will only be on computer at official testing centers like DSC.
The paper and pencil version of the test costs $70, while the computerized version costs $130. On average, it takes about seven hours in total to complete all five sections of the exam.
Anyone seeking details on the test-taking process, including testing dates and campus locations, can visit www.daytonastate.edu/assessment/gedinfo.html.
