George M. David

George M. David, 93, of New Smyrna Beach, died Feb. 26. The family will conduct a service in Chicago at a later date.

Born in Chicago, Mr. David, an insurance executive, attended Our Lady Star of The Sea Catholic Church in New Smyrna Beach.

Arrangements were handled by Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 406 S. Orange St., New Smyrna Beach.

Tommie Stultz

Tommie Stultz, 87, formerly of Edgewater, died Friday, Feb.22, in Carrollton, Ga.

Born in Kenova, W.V., Mrs. Stultz came to this area in 1998 from Astatula. A hairdresser and owner of a plant nursery, she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Edgewater; Past Worthy Matron of Mizpah Chapter No. 190, Order of the Eastern Star, Orlando; a member of New Smyrna Chapter No. 3, Order of the Eastern Star; and a past member of the Orlando Garden Club.

Arrangements were handled by Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 406 S. Orange St., New Smyrna Beach.

William S. Hathaway

William S. Hathaway, 97, of New Smyrna Beach, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, at the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Southeast Volusia Care Center.

Born in Chicago, Mr. Hathaway came to this area in 1946 from Homestead. A U. S. Army Captain serving in Africa and Europe during World War II, he was awarded the Bronze Star. Mr. Hathaway owned Hathaway's Food Store on Flagler Avenue until 1990. He served on the New Smyrna Beach planning and zoning board, and was elected city commissioner and mayor. He was also a member of the chamber of commerce, the First Baptist Church of New Smyrna Beach, New Smyrna Beach Municipal Golf Club, American Legion Post 17 and Elks Lodge No 1557.

Richard Nemesek

Richard Nemesek, 68, of New Smyrna Beach, died Saturday, Feb. 23, at Daytona Beach Health and Rehab.

Born in Mount Pleasant, Pa., Mr. Nemesek came to this area in 1998 from Ft. Lauderdale, where he had an insurance agency. In New Smyrna Beach, he ran Big Joe's Subs and worked for Reddy Ice Co. He was a U. S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran and an avid motorcyclist.

Jane R. Cornett

Jane R. Cornett, 88, of Edgewater, died Friday, Feb. 22, surrounded by friends and family. Born in Johnson City, Tenn., Mrs. Cornett graduated from Science Hill High School in 1942 and from East Tennessee State College in 1946. She was the Tri-State Jitterbug Champion.

An English teacher at New Smyrna Beach Junior High School, she was a member of Smyrna Yacht Club, New Smyrna Garden Club, Coronado Community United Methodist Church and the Bert Fish Medical Center Auxiliary.

Robert T. Neumayer

Robert T. Neumayer, 91, of New Smyrna Beach, died Sunday, Feb. 24, at Bert Fish Medical Center.

Born in St. Louis, Mo., Mr. Neumayer came to this area from Port Washington, N.Y.

A graduate of Missouri University with a degree in accounting, Mr. Neumayer was a B-17 pilot with the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II in the European Theater. He retired as president of Dominick and Dominick in New York City. A member of Coronado Community United Methodist Church, he was past treasurer of Smyrna Yacht Club.

Wayne Porter Branson

Wayne Porter Branson, 70, of Edgewater, died Saturday, Feb. 23 at home. Born in Coatesville, Penn.

Mr. Branson came to this area in 2005 from Charleston, S.C. He retired from the U.S. Air Force and from working for Charleston County, S.C.

He was a member of American Legion Post 285, Edgewater; the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Edgewater; the Loyal Order of Moose, New Smyrna Beach; and the Dolphin Athletic Club.

Arrangements were handled by Settle-Wilder Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 406 S. Orange St., New Smyrna Beach.

Alison Stratton

Alison Stratton, 59, of Edgewater, died Sunday, Feb. 24,at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Edgewater. Burial will be at a later date in White Cemetery, Minford, Ohio.

Born in Shelby, Ohio, Mrs. Stratton, a homemaker, moved to this area in 1982 from Sidney, Ohio. She was a member of Bella Vista Baptist Church.
