MARTIN COUNTY -- Martin County residents will be pumping their pedals for a good cause on March 3.

That's when the Habitat for Humanity will hold their 2013 Power Ride, a cycling poker ride starting and ending at BikeStreet USA.

The money raised will go towards Habitat's 2013 Women Build home, which will benefit the Jackson family in the new Carter Park community of Indiantown.

This event is family friendly, and the bike rides have been divided into four separate rides with varying start times: the 100-mile "power house" ride will begin at 7 a.m.; the 62-mile "hammer down" ride will begin at 7:30 a.m.; a 30-mile "flying trusses" ride will begin at 9:30 a.m.; and a 10-mile "building blocks" family fun ride will begin at 11 a.m.

Water, sports drinks and snacks will be available at rest stops along the route, as well as before and after the event.

There are two registration dates planned. The first is from 5 to 8 p.m. March 1 at Pro Cycles, 1098 N.W. federal Highway in Jensen Beach. The second is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 2 at both BikeStreet USA locations, 8803 S.E. Bridge Road in Hobe Sound and 2044 S. Federal Highway in Stuart.

Advance registration is $40 and the first 150 participants will receive a T-shirt and a goodie bag. Registration will also be available the day of the event, beginning at 6:15 a.m., for $50.

The day of the event, all participants will receive a poker hand and lunch at the ride. Prizes will be awarded for the top three poker hands.

Sponsors of the event are BikeStreet USA, Wilmington Trust, Taste Casual Dining, Tropical Smoothie Café and Dunkin Donuts.

The bike rides will all take place on March 3 and start and finish at BikeStreet USA, located at 8803 S.E. Bridge Road in Hobe Sound. Cost to register for the event is $40. For more information, call (772) 223-9940.
