MARTIN COUNTY -- The fourth annual Women's Health Summit being held this year is urging women to "Take Back Your Life Now!"

The free event will be held at Willoughby Golf Club in Stuart, and is sponsored by the Martin Health Foundation Women in Philanthropy.

According to Scott Samples, the marketing communications manager for Martin Health System, the annual event is designed to provide women with topics that can help them improve their health and the quality of their life.

This year, Barbara McFarland will speak about self-empowerment. Ms McFarland is an author, psychologist and motivational speaker who has appeared on the "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and the "Today Show." At the health summit, she will discuss her book, "The Balanced Life," and offer tips and strategies to live well.

Her programs on life balance have been used throughout the world and her wellness programs have been used by such corporations as Proctor and Gamble, General Electric and the Andrew Jergens Company, to name a few.

Martin Health Systems is a nonprofit, community-based organization with 12 locations throughout Martin and St. Lucie counties.

The health summit will be held on March 2 at Willoughby Golf club, 3001 S.E. Doubleton Drive in Stuart. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and reservations are required.
